What We Do
Since 1894, our family has been here caring for our cattle and land the best way we know how.
In March of 1992, our family was milking 77 cows in a traditional tie stall barn. On March 22, 1992, that barn was lost due to a tragic barn fire.
While the remaining 19 cows of the herd were milked on a neighboring farm that survived, the decision was made to expand the herd to 300 cows with a freestall barn and double 9 parlor. And we still milk cows in that parlor today! Over the years we slowly grew the herd from 300 to 550 in 1999, to 700 in 2001, to 800 over time until 2018. In 2018, we built a robotic milking barn where we house 500 cows today that are milked by robots. Today we milk about 1,200 cows. With the growth in cow numbers over the years, we also grew our cropping part of the farm to the size it is today of approximately 3,000 acres. About half of those acres are rented acres, while the other half is owned.
